Folk Music Festival: La Notte della Taranta

From August 5th to Augst 23rd the folk music festaval „Notte della Taranta“ is going to take place. It is one of Italy’s biggest folk music festivals and one of Europe’s most important events dedicated to traditional culture. This is a great opportunity to celebrate and value Salento traditional folk music, but alos some other music genres, This festival is one of Europe’s most important events dedicated to traditional culture.It is going to take place in Grecia Salentina, Alessano, Cursi, Galatina and Lecce. Iin southern Puglia, a folk dance first created by women working in tobacco fields was their response to the bite of the tarantula.
