The Festival della Valle d’Itria is a summer opera festival held in the south eastern Italian town of Martina Franca in the Apulia region. The Festival was founded in 1975 and performances are given in July and August each summer on a specially constructed stage in the outdoor courtyard of Martina Franca’s Palazzo Ducale.
The primary aim of the festival is to present obscure, neglected or rarely performed works, and often works in the standard operatic repertoire are given in their original versions.
Attending open-air Opera in summer is a great experience; this organised journey is proposing you a short tour and a performance by the 44th Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca, one of the highest Italian standards for this performance:
Giulietta e Romeo (July 13, 15 and 31, 2018) opera in two acts by the Italian composer Nicola Vaccaj, libretto by Felice Romani.
Rinaldo (July 29, August 2 and 4, 2018) opera by Georg Friedrich Händel and Leonardo Leo, libretto by Giacomo Rossi.
La Profezia di Eliseo (July 14 and 28, August 1, 2018) opera in two parts by the Italian composer Giovanni Paolo Colonna, libretto by Giovanni Battista Neri.
